Farewell Friday

Well, we are comfortable in the Katzenpension (luxury cat hotel), although we are missing our humans already. We have a huge room all to ourselves, and it has lots of cubby holes, scratching posts, toys, and places to play. It also has an enclosed outdoor cat run, but we won't be allowed in it unless it gets really warm out (it's shaded, so we wouldn't get sunburned). There are two large windows, so we can see outside, or lie in the sun. Our sleeping bags and fleece are here with us too, so we have something familiar to curl up in and under if we want. There are two very nice ladies here who are dedicated to looking after our well-being. They are totally entranced by us, our looks, and the way our skin feels (like a warm chamois). We have the best of food, including fresh beef! Yum!

This will be our last chance to use the computer until our humans are back from Egypt, so you won't be hearing from us for about 10 days.

We will miss our humans, of course, and also all of our friends. We promise we will visit all of you when we are back home.

Also, our mom apologies to all those who ordered scrapbook pages but haven't received them yet. She had hoped to get them all done before they left on vacation, but there were so many orders, she didn't have time to finish them all. She promises they will be the first item on her "to do" list when they are back from Egypt, and everyone will hopefully receive all their pages by March 16th at the latest. Thank you all again for helping out the Meezers and Churchill by ordering these pages. Our mom feels so bad that she didn't finish them all by the end of February.

Here are some photos of us exploring our room in the cat hotel:

Thursday Thirteen: Egypt

Friday, our humans leave for Egypt. Our mom is very interested in ancient Egyptian history, and she is really looking forward to seeing the Pyramids, the Valley of the Kings, numerous ancient Egyptian temples, and other sites.

We think we should be allowed to go with them! So here are 13 reasons why we should be allowed to go to Egypt with our humans.

  1. The ancient Egyptians were among the first people to domesticate cats, so we want to see where it all started!

  2. The ancient Egyptians worshipped cats - we want to visit the place where people knew that we deserved to be worshipped!

  3. We want to see the ancient temples of Bast and Bastet, the cat goddess.

  4. We want to see all the cat mummies!

  5. The desert is one giant sandbox!

  6. We are Sphynx, so we want to see the Great Sphinx. (Note the difference in spelling. Sphynx are a breed of hairless cats. Sphinx are the statues with the body of a cat and the head of a human, common in ancient Egypt and ancient Greece.)

  7. We want to see some ancient Egyptian cat statues. The Sphynx breed was named by a cat show judge, who said that we reminded him of the cat statues he had seen in Egypt. So we want to see these statues that our breed was named after.

  8. Our humans won't be able to sleep at night without us curled up next to them.

  9. Our mom will be worried about us the whole time they are gone, and that's not healthy.

  10. We've never been on a plane before, and we think it would be a great adventure!

  11. Merlin has never been in a foreign country. (I, Dragonheart, went to Switzerland with my humans, so I've been outside of Germany.)

  12. We both love the sun, and there is lots of sun in Egypt!

  13. Although we will be sharing a large, private room in a luxury cat hotel, where we will be well looked after, we are going to miss our humans.

Meezer Rule Wednesday & Wordless Wednesday

Meezer Rule:

Merlin
: When it's time for a nap, try to find as comfortable a spot as possible. Curling up on a nice, warm human is a good choice. When you get comfortable on the human of your choice, try to look as cute as possible. This will ensure that the humans can't stay mad at you for long when you wake up and cause all kinds of chaos!

Cats on Tuesday: Tent Fun

Cats on Tuesday Dragonheart: Here are some photos of us having fun with our cat tent from IKEA. As you can see, at one point, Merlin has totally flipped the tent over while he is still inside it. Kittens! As you can see in the last three photos, I am watching him, as he goes crazy inside the tent.

Photo Hunters: Wooden

PSHunt

Here are some photos of both of us enjoying playing with some of our toys on our wooden floor. The wooden floors in our place are great for playing - lots of toys roll across its surface in a wonderful fashion! You can also see our wooden toy chest in the background, in three of the photos.

(For those of you who have never seen Sphynx before, we are CATS. Sphynx are a breed of hairless cats. We are very friendly, affectionate, outgoing and playful.)

Two Frootbats on Friday

Dragonheart and Merlin

Dragonheart: As you can see from these photos, Merlin is getting too big for both of us to fit in the sleeping bag at once. As the older sibling, I get first bids on curling up inside the sleeping bag. We do have two sleeping bags, but we like being together.

Some of you have asked if Merlin will be larger than I am. It's hard to say. I was bigger than my littermate and brother as a kitten, so they thought I was going to be a large Sphynx, like my grandfather (15 lbs), but I never grew that big, and I'm only 3.65 kg (8 lbs). Merlin is currently about 6 lbs. He's still smaller than me, but he's continuing to grow.

Dragonheart and Merlin
Merlin: As you can see, I continue to grow like a weed! Some of you have commented that it looks like my body type is different from Dragonheart's. Yep, it is! My humans say I'm a little more "stocky" - I have a broader chest, and my legs are set further apart than Dragonheart's. The shape of my head and face are a little different too. Mine are a little more "Meezer-like." We are both frootbats, though, just like all Sphynx should be!

Thursday Thirteen: Our New Cat Tree

Thursday Thirteen
The store where our mom buys most of our food, our litter, and our cat toys, has a points program. You earn points with every purchase that you make, and you can later redeem points for different items. Well, we had accumulated enough points to get a new cat tree. We love it! It is tall and has lots of different platforms and tunnels. In honour of our new cat tower, here are 13 photos of us and our tower.

Meezer Rule Wednesday: The High Ground

Merlin: Do your best to always claim the high ground. That way you can more easily keep an eye on your siblings, and the entire household.

Meezer & Mancat Monday: Merlin's Gizzy Quilt

Merlin: My Gizzy quilt arrived! It is beautiful! It has many lovely shades of blue to go along with my baby blue eyes, as well as some other lovely colours, including some dragons and flames to match the dragons and flames on Dragonheart's Gizzy quilt. I love my quilt! It is so beautiful and comfortable! To find out how to get your own Gizzy quilt, check out Bizzy for Gizzy.

The quilt smells good!
Merlin's Gizzy Quilt
It's good for stretching out on! (You can see one of the white patches in my colouration going across my shoulders here. I'm a Seal Point and White Sphynx, and that patch of pink skin across my shoulders is part of the "and White" part of my colouring!)

Easy Like Sunday Morning: Loved

Here we are both enjoying the sun. We both love the sun - it feels so good against our bare skin!

To help our friends, Sammy & Miles Meezer, and Churchill, we are having our mom create digital scrapbook pages like the one below. To find out how you can get one of these made, check out our post below. Thanks!

Helping Friends - Digital Scrapbook Pages

We have been trying to come up with some ways to help out those in need of help, like Churchill and Sammy & Miles Meezer, and we decided to use one of our mom's skills - making digital scrapbook pages.

For $5 USD, our mom will design a scrapbook page for you, with one to three photos, and you can choose the colour scheme you would like to have, and specify the kit as well, if you have a preference.

For $12 USD, she will design three scrapbook pages for you. They can coordinate, or not.

Pages can be made either 8x8 inches, or 12x12 inches. They will be at 300dpi, for good print quality if you wish to have them printed. You will also receive a web version (550x550 pixels, at 72dpi). So you will receive two JPG files as the final product: the larger version, as well as the smaller version. For those who would like to have a print version included, arrangements can be made to do so, at an additional charge (essentially the cost of Shutterfly printing, and the page would be shipped directly to you from Shutterfly).

To order, please contact us at Dragonheart DOT Sphynx AT gmail DOT com, and we will send you our Paypal email, and discuss what you would like for your page(s). If you would like your money going to either Churchill or The Meezers, please specify that. If not, we will split the money raised evenly between the two.

Our mom's portfolio can be seen here. Any of the kits you see in her pages can be used to create your page. She has some cat-specific kits, but she can also use any other kit that she has. She also has a couple of pet kits, that could be used for woofies or buns, or other animals.

Here are some examples of her layouts:
